INGREDIENTS FOR FILLING
- 1lb Cooking Apples
- 8oz Blackberries
- 3oz Sugar
- 2oz Chopped Roast Hazelnuts
INGREDIENTS FOR PASTRY
- 6oz Plain Flour
- 3oz Butter
- Pinch of Salt
- 3-4 tbs Cool Water to mix
METHOD
- First make the pastry, sift flour and salt into a large bowl.
- Add butter, cut into flour with a knife and lightly rub in the flour until
it resembles breadcrumbs.
- Add a little cold water, mix with a knife until
the dough is moist enough to form a ball.
- Cover and leave to rest in a cool place for at least an hour before rolling out on a floured board.
- Peel and slice the apples into the pie dish
- Add hazelnuts, blackberries and
sugar.
- Gently mix a little with hands.
- Moisten the edge of the pie dish with water and lay the pastry over the top.
- Trim to size and decorate with pastry leaves.
- Brush with milk and make a hole to let the steam escape.
- Preheat the oven to 200ºC/400ºF (Gas mark 6) bake near the top of the oven
for about 10 minutes then turn the heat down to 190ºC/375ºF (Gas mark 5) for
about 30 minutes or more.
- Serve hot with cream.
