A Letter from Jill - Winter 2004

Hello all!

My oh my it is getting cold! Thank goodness the Brambly Hedge mice have worked extremely hard over the past few months gathering their harvest for this Midwinter season. The store stump is full to the brim with lots of nuts, seeds, berries, roots and mushrooms, all to be made into delicious breads, hot soups and puddings! Not forgetting the lovely fruit punches for Basil! Yum, yum.

I think we are going to be like the Toadflax children waiting by the window for the first snowflake to fall, I really do think it will snow this year! I hope so, I don't like going out in it much, but I do like to watch the snow falling and resting heavily on the branches of the trees - almost like soft icing dripping off my favourite cake!

I bet all you children wish for snow, so you can find a steep hill and toboggan down it really fast, ending up like a giant snowball at the bottom! Or playing throwing snowballs at each other, making sure they are full of lovely soft snow that disintegrates as soon as they touch and no ice allowed - this is fun!! Oh yes, and most of all making a huge snowmouse!

I do love this time of year when all the family comes together and you see relations that you have not seen for a long time, but only spoken to them on the phone. It's great to catch up on all the news that has been happening and all the children get together and have a great time!

I hope you all are looking forward to your celebrations this year and don't forget to give a thought for the poor children who don't even know about the festive season, maybe we should say a little prayer for everyone who will be lonely at this time of year and hope their future celebrations are as bright as ours.

All the mice at Brambly Hedge wish everyone a very Merry Midwinter!!

Lots of love

Jill xx
